Description: Assignment from Tactile and Environmental Design course, where we were challenged to conceptualize, create and produce a pop-up kinetic Valentine’s Day Card to be sold before Valentine’s Day. I really wanted to create something that would be focused on the people who would be sending a card in the mail to their significant other. The mechanism for the pop-up is a twist and fold, and opens horizontally. I went through countless renditions and prototypes of the mechanism and finally came up with the one utilized on the ten cards I produced. All the graphics shown on the card were illustrated by me.

I wanted to create a card where the bulk of the design and and environment was shown once the card was opened, something that would catch the viewer by surprise. I used a typeface that is similar to a hand-type and a paper with a slight shimmer. The envelope was also created and produced by me, and the interior of the envelope contained the same pattern and color as the inside of the card. The inscription reads, ‘Since I am not able to be with you today…I’m sending my love another way!’
