I-Design Sustainable Applications Concentration

Description: Project done for a course that was implemented into the Art & Design Department collateral and promotional materials. Groups in the class were challenged with creating a logo, tagline, writing the informational text used in a variety of materials, as well as create social media posts for the seven different concentrations within the I-Design Program. Myself and my partner, created the logo and tagline Discover a Greener Tomorrow to be implemented into the Sustainable Applications Concentration.
This project was valuable in learning how to ideate and formulate a logo, create effective writing, tagline, and social media posts. Countless renditions of logos were created, and eventually this one was voted on by the class and Professor.

Sustainable Applications is an opportunity for students within the I-Design program to focus and expand their studies into the sustainable industries and practices. Students will take classes like chemistry, biology, and ecology to extend their knowledge in how to best design and produce pieces and products in the most ecological and economical ways possible. This concentration prepares students to evolve with the design world as well as their surrounding environment. Within this area of study, students have the chance to challenge the design industry and better their traditional practices moving toward becoming more environmentally aware. Students are able to utilize the basic skills and techniques of sustainable design and integrate them into their professional work. This design concentration allows students to work outside of the design lab on live projects to further their skills into sustainable practices. Students who complete this concentration, will be able to work towards creating a more sustainable and healthy future. We encourage our students to think outside the box when they are creating their eco-friendly designs, while teaching them how to successfully incorporate these practices into their future careers as designers. Our students are given the best opportunities and tools to make their dreams of continuing to live in a green, and healthy world a reality, and we believe in each student’s abilities to change our world through the application of these techniques. If a student chooses to make Sustainable Applications their area of focus, they will receive a well-rounded education on the environmentally-friendly and current design standards. We are constantly updating our teaching of design and sustainable practices, to give students the most up-to-date information possible, while still giving a descriptive analysis of the traditional forms of design. Sustainable Applications works towards a greener, more creative future.
