Date: April, 2020 – May, 2020

Production Technique: Illustrator

Exhibition title: Chords

Description: This series of vector illustrations of different arches within the National Park in Moab, Utah, were created for display in my Senior Art Exhibition. On my most recent trip out to Utah, I visited the National Park and spent three days in Moab exploring the park and the town. I fell in love with the arches and everything they, subjectively, represent. I knew I had to include them, in some way, in my pieces for the senior show I just didn’t know exactly how I was going to do that.

The theme my group had come up with related to music and how that has played a role in shaping who we are or music that has a direct link to a specific memory. Luckily, I have really specific songs that I can directly correlate to my time spent in the Arches. Along with that, we each chose a color range to work within; my color was warm yellows and oranges.

Since there are over 2,000 arches in the park, I had plenty of pictures I had taken to choose from. But, because of the COVID-19 Pandemic I was not able to produce these to place in the gallery. If that would’ve gone through, I also would have created these into stickers as a small take-away for visitors. We also created a virtual gallery space, so display our works to the public. You can visit the virtual gallery at www.artsteps.com/chords

Under normal circumstances, I would have printed these illustrations as stickers for viewers to take from the show.
